This Is Texas Wine amplifies the great things happening in the Texas wine industry by sharing news about Texas wineries, interviews, travel tips, updates from the vineyards across the state, and wine recommendations. Host Shelly Wilfong also provides Texas-specific wine education, information on industry trends, legislative developments, and other important topics that impact the Texas wine industry from a business and economic standpoint.
The podcast was launched in June 2020. New episodes are generally published every 2-4 weeks.
In 2025, This Is Texas Wine was named #19 on FeedSpot's Best Wine Podcasts to Follow list and #3 on the Best Wine Education Podcasts.
About Shelly
Shelly Wilfong is a wine educator, writer, and Texas wine podcaster. This Is Texas Wine podcast debuted in 2020 and broadcasts the most important voices in the Texas wine industry. Shelly has contributed articles to the SOMMTV magazine, Texas Wine Lover website, and various blogs. In recognition of her work, Shelly received the Texas Wine & Grape Growers Association’s Wine Press Award in 2022. In 2023, Shelly was named one of the 25 Women Defining Southern Wine by The Local Palate magazine.
Shelly is a member of the Texas Department of Agriculure's Texas Wine Advisory Committee. She hosts the upcoming Go Texan Explores: Texas Wine podcast for the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Shelly holds the Level 3 (Advanced) award from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and a Certified Specialist of Wine designation through the Society of Wine Educators. She is also an Advanced Specialist of Texas Wine from Texas Wine School. Shelly is a member of the Dallas Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier. She volunteers for the TEXSOM Awards and frequently judges wine competitions from Texas to New York.
